Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Nursing. If an applicant holds only an associate degree in nursing, they must graduate with a bachelor’s degree in nursing within five years of starting the position.

Several certifications are required for this role, including a current State of Illinois Registered Nurse licensure and a current CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross. Additionally, candidates must obtain Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Life Support (PALS), and Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS) within three months of starting the position.

The primary responsibilities include providing professional nursing care in accordance with the Illinois Professional Registered Nurse Practice Act and hospital policies. Nurses will employ critical thinking skills to assess patients’ conditions, recognize changes, plan and evaluate care, monitor patients’ progress, and record pertinent observations.
