The main responsibility of the bartender is to serve all beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, to guests. They must ensure that the service is efficient and adheres to company standards and regulations.

Before serving drinks, a bartender must follow the bar pre-shift notes and review the bar menus to provide the correct service. They are also responsible for verifying guests’ IDs to ensure they meet the legal age requirements for alcohol consumption.

The bartender must serve alcoholic beverages following all proper procedures and adhere to state and federal regulations regarding alcohol distribution. This includes checking IDs and following legal guidelines for serving alcohol.

A bartender should have knowledge of various beer, wine, and spirits available at the bar. They should also be able to suggestively upsell products to guests in a friendly and professional manner.

The bartender is expected to de-escalate situations involving intoxicated or confrontational guests. If a guest becomes belligerent or uses extreme profanity, the bartender may need to contact management or security for assistance.

The bartender is responsible for handling cash accurately and managing the issued bank at their bar. Proper cash management is essential to ensure transactions are correct and secure.

The bartender must maintain a clean and sanitary work station at all times. They are also responsible for ensuring that bar equipment is clean and well-maintained to meet health standards.
