The LPN is responsible for giving out all medications and treatments during their shift, except for those meant for an RN, following the medical and nursing care plan.

The LPN works under the direction of the Head or Charge Nurse to provide the best nursing care for all the residents in the unit.

The LPN continuously evaluates the behavior, symptoms, reactions, and progress of residents and shares their findings with the Nurse Manager or Charge Nurse.

The LPN administers and documents all medications based on established policies, physician orders, and Department of Health regulations. They also discuss any need to change or stop medications with the Nurse Manager or Charge Nurse.

The LPN orders prescribed medications, notifies the pharmacy about any discontinued medications, and makes sure the accuracy of medications and dosages is correct when they arrive from the pharmacy.
