The main responsibilities of a Property Accountant include managing the day-to-day accrual-based accounting for assigned commercial and residential properties. This involves completing monthly financial reporting packages, preparing and analyzing balance sheets and income statements, and ensuring compliance with GAAP.

The Property Accountant will interact daily with several key personnel, including the VP of Accounting, Controller, and Accounting Manager. Additionally, they will collaborate with members of the asset and property management teams and various departments within the Bedrock organization.

The Property Accountant will be responsible for reviewing and creating journal entries, preparing and posting complex adjusting and closing journal entries, and ensuring the accuracy of the General Ledger and entity records. They will also prepare and update fixed asset amortization and depreciation schedules.

The Property Accountant will need to keep and update work papers that substantiate monthly reporting. This documentation will also be essential for the annual financial audit and tax returns.

The Property Accountant will review and code all invoices in a paperless accounting system. They will also be responsible for reviewing and posting tenant work orders and utility billings.
